Clearing a canopy back off a building entrance

Trees near an entrance are the ones most likely to cause a problem and the ones people least want closed off while you deal with them.
This canopy had grown over the walkway and up against the building. Low limbs were in the way of anyone walking in, and the denser growth was holding moisture against the wall.
What we did
Limbs were taken back to clear the roofline and the path, working from the structure outward and cutting at points that let the tree close its wounds properly instead of throwing weak regrowth. Thinning the interior opened the canopy so light and air move through it again.
Everything came down onto the walkway, was cut down on the spot and cleared before the crew left. The entrance stayed usable throughout.
Afterwards
Most trees want this every one to three years depending on species and how hard they grow. Keeping to that cycle is also the cheapest storm preparation there is, because weight taken out early is weight that cannot come down on its own.
